Walking

Kourteli trail

Start: Opposite the gates of Agios Nikolaos Cat Sanctuary and Bishop’s Farm

This path is part of the route that the inhabitants of the area used to follow in the past to transport their products from Akrotiri village to Limassol city. Hikers can see rare plants such as orchids, the Coastal rush and the Sea – flax. The path leads to Akrotiri Salt Lake, the largest salt lake on the island and one of the most important wetlands in the Eastern Mediterranean region. From the view point, you can watch Flamingos as well as other wild bird species that use the wetland.

Lady’s Mile trail

Start: Just behind the AEZ Football stadium

The landscape along the trail is characterised by coastal dunes, shallow brackish lakes, muddy flat areas, and low shrub vegetation. This combination creates saline wet meadows, which are vital for birds, such as the Kentish Plover, the Black-winged Stilt and Greater Flamingo. This makes it a beautiful and ideal route for birdwatching.

Apollo Hylates nature trail

Start: Opposite the archaeological site of the Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates at ancient Kourion
